In World of Darkness Roleplay, we strive to provide a unique and engaging experience for all our players, and as part of that commitment, we have implemented a narcotics system that is designed to simulate the highs and lows of drug addiction.
We want to be clear that our narcotics system is purely for entertainment purposes, and we do not endorse or promote drug use in any way. Our goal is to offer a realistic and immersive roleplaying experience that challenges our players to make difficult choices and explore complex themes in a safe and controlled environment.
Our narcotics system is not meant to trivialize or glorify drug use, but rather to present it as a complex and multi-faceted issue with both positive and negative consequences. Each substance has its own unique set of effects and risks, and players must be mindful of the potential downsides of continued use.
We understand that our narcotics system may not be for everyone, and we respect the decision of any player who chooses not to engage with it. Mechanics
Once a player begins taking drugs, they have a chance to become addicted. The odds of addiction depend on the drug type and how often it is taken. Addiction has four levels: Mild, Moderate, Severe, and Fatal. Each level will send the player roleplay guidelines every once in a while during gameplay. It is important that characters with drug addiction roleplay their addiction properly, and failure to do so is considered Powergaming, which violates our server rules and can result in a penalty.
When presented with the opportunity to use drugs, players must roll their Willpower at difficulty 6 + addiction level. This means that a character with a Moderate addiction will have to roll Willpower against difficulty 8 to avoid stealing money from their loved ones to buy another dose, while an addict with Fatal addiction will have to roll against difficulty 10.
If a player feels uncomfortable with what they have done to their character and feels like this is too much for their stomach to handle, they may ask for a PK, meaning their character will die, resulting in the loss of some experience. Once a character has died from an overdose, they have a chance to begin with a new life, meaning their addiction gets removed, but it only applies to deaths that were caused by an overdose.
Quitting drugs is a lengthy and difficult process that requires tremendous efforts from the character's side. For every three days that the character does not touch the same substance, they will have a chance to get their addiction level decreased throughout gameplay. The system does it all automatically for you.
To help players keep track of their addiction level, the messages they receive every once in a while are color-coded. Green signifies Mild addiction, yellow signifies Moderate addiction, red signifies Severe addiction, and dark brown signifies Fatal addiction.
